Idacanzas

Idacanzas was a Cacique Muisca of the Iraq confederation. Its name means "Great Light of the Day." He is a mysterious character, who was revered and respected as High Priest. The Zipa and probably the Zaque also paid tribute to him. It is attributed the ability to predict from climatic events to those of human origin with extraordinary accuracy. Probably Idacanzas is no more than a high priest of Iraq, but at the arrival of the Spaniards he worshiped like the God Nemqueteba or Nemquereteba that assimilates with Bochica the instructor and benefactor of the Chibchas. In the Chibchas legends he described himself as an old man with a white beard, riding a mysterious animal. He established the confederation of Iraq and the rules for the election of his successors. It is possible that Idacanzas is a very old priest of the cult of Bochica but not of the same personage.
