Ojik studied at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. From 6 April 1988 to 24 November 1990, Ojik was party chairman of the Politieke Partij Radikal (PPR). From 21 April 1993 to 17 May 1994, from 20 September 2012 to 20 May 2015, and again since 23 March 2017, Ojik is a deputy in the Second Chamber of States for GroenLinks. From 1 May 2003 to 1 August 2006, Ojik was ambassador of the Netherlands in Benin. From 8 October 2012 to 12 May 2015, Ojik succeeded Jolande Sap as chairman of the GroenLinks, followed by Jesse Klaver, chairman of the Group.
