The English Concert

The English Concert is an orchestra using original instruments founded in 1972 by Trevor Pinnock, harpsichordist, organist and musical director. In its beginnings it interpreted music of centuries XVII and XVIII.

The first public concert took place in May of 1973 during the English Bach Festival and since then has excelled in historicist interpretation, highlighting his artistic personality and musicological rigor. They increased the artistic workforce together with the improvement and extension of the repertoire with symphonies of Haydn and Mozart. The identity essences and characteristics of The English Concert are the homogeneity of the sound of different instrumental families and the balance between them. The discography is very wide; the quality and excellence of several of his recordings have been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Grammophone Awards for Haydn Mass Nelson and Corelli concerti grossi.
