OpenTTD, a free game of economic simulation.

Economic simulation video games (also known as "tycoon" or "business game") simulate, as the name says, an economy. Most of these video games are based on building, planning and thinking about how to face various challenges during the video game. This type of video games are always mainly strategic video games.

In video games of economic simulation, rarely interacts with units (such as citizens, individuals or vehicles), but establishes or determines the foundation for their situation. Therefore, all effects on the population will be indirect. In most cases, the management of a company in competition with others in a free market is simulated.

One of the purest examples of economic simulator is Capitalism, a business simulator in which an industrial and financial empire is built. Another ambitious business simulator is Transport Tycoon, a video game similar in appearance to SimCity 2000 but in which it designs an infrastructure and transportation company for various cities.

Another important example is the Anno saga, which is about building a colony on Caribbean islands, with the exception of its latest delivery in the East.

LABSAG (Laboratory of Simulation in Administration and Management) is a complete simulator of 10 simulators in one, allows to make decisions online (Internet) and to compete against human teams.

Virtonomics is a business and economy simulation game that allows its users to learn the elements of administration.
