AS-39

The AS-39 road belongs to the Principality of Asturias Local Road Network, which is 6.4 km long and links the Forcinas town of Praca with the San Tirso river.

Start at a junction with the AS-347 road, near the now-defunct La Campa Restaurant in Forcinas de Arriba; and ends at the junction with the AS-38 road in San Tirso.

It begins its route with a steep descending slope, in what is known as Cuesta'l gaiteiru, until reaching the road AS-16, that saves through a raised passage and later to link with her in the environs of the recreational area of Quinzanas.

Later, it crosses the Puente de Quinzanas, which saves the River Narcea, and goes up a small slope until reaching the town of Quinzanas, which runs for more than 1 km. After leaving Quinzanas, the AS-39 continues ascending, leaving to the left the deviation that leads to Pronga. Two hundred meters later, it reaches its highest point (180 m) known as La Peña Pronga. This point marks the boundary between the council of Pravia and Candamo, and also the passage from the valley of the river Narcea to the valley of the river Nalón. From here, the AS-39 begins a slight downward slope into a leafy Oak and Chestnut forest known as Monte Villa.

Finally reach the town of San Tirso that runs for about 500 meters, until its intersection with the AS-38.

Since November 2009, the Government of the Principality of Asturias has been carrying out works to improve the road layout, with a budget of 2.2 million euros. The reform is expected to be completed in early 2011 .
